Indoor Golf Takes Off in Estero: A New Golfing Hub Opens Its Doors

As outdoor golf driving ranges vanish across Southwest Florida, a new trend is emerging: indoor golf simulators. In Estero, a fresh destination has opened up for golf enthusiasts and novices alike — The Cave. This unique venue features not just one, but three state-of-the-art golf simulators combined with a lively bar atmosphere. The owners, Karen Nicoletti and Brad Swearingen, are set to transform the golfing landscape and provide a space where everyone can enjoy the game.

Opening Day and Special Offers

The Cave officially opened its doors on February 4, creating a buzz among local golf lovers. Along with exciting golfing experiences, they are rolling out free women’s golf clinics every Monday. That’s right! If you’re a woman interested in picking up a club, now’s your chance without any financial strain. Additionally, The Cave shows appreciation for our community heroes by offering specials for veterans, police, firefighters, emergency medical services personnel, and educators. The atmosphere here is welcoming, and they strive to make everyone feel at home.

Location and Pricing

Located at 9250 Corkscrew Road, Suite 13, The Cave is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.. Want to swing away for an hour? It’ll set you back $50 to use one of the simulators, which can accommodate up to six people. That’s a pretty nifty way to hang out with friends and work on your game!

A Menu to Savor

While you’re having fun, don’t forget to check out the menu, which includes fan-favorite pub food such as pizza, wings, and various appetizers. It’s the perfect combination of sports and dining! You could spend an entire afternoon here without needing to leave the cozy vibe of The Cave.

The Rise of Golf in the Pandemic

Nicoletti mentioned that “the pandemic was great for the game of golf.” Public golf courses are seeing an influx of visitors, reaching record numbers. However, as fun as golf is, it can be a bit pricey. Nicoletti pointed out that at some renowned courses, like Pebble Beach, playing a round can cost nearly $800. Thankfully, The Cave offers a chance to play the digital version for considerably less, keeping it affordable for everyone who wants to partake in the sport.

From Caddying to Creating

After a back injury forced Swearingen to pivot away from his caddying career, he harnessed that energy and designed The Cave. “When he was recovering, he needed a Plan B,” shared Nicoletti. The couple rolled up their sleeves, bringing their vision to life with their own two hands. That’s right — this is not just another golf simulator spot; it’s a passion project born from resilience and creativity. And guess what? They even have plans to add two indoor pickleball courts later this year for those who want to switch things up a bit.

A Comfortable Space for Everyone

Nicoletti emphasizes inclusivity: “Coming here, you don’t have to worry about being intimidated. This is a place where beginners and advanced players alike can come and enjoy themselves.” Whether you’re just figuring out how to hold a club or you’ve been playing for years, The Cave offers something for everyone. Children can also take part in the fun with interactive games offered on the simulators.

The Simulator Experience

So how does it work? Swearingen gives it a go at the simulator, showing us how you can drive a ball straight into a screen. The real ball smacks against the surface, while the virtual one continues its journey on-screen, landing precisely where it’s supposed to on the green. “It might take a little getting used to,” Swearingen added. But trust him — the accuracy is phenomenal. You might think you’re right out on the golf course in no time!

The Future is Bright

With indoor golf simulators gaining popularity as driving ranges disappear, The Cave is poised to become a community hub for both seasoned golfers and newcomers. As they continue to expand their offerings, one thing is clear: this place is about to become a staple in Estero’s entertainment scene.
