Indoor Golf Simulators: The New Trend in Southwest Florida
Have you noticed that the outdoor golf driving ranges are slowly disappearing in Southwest Florida? Well, it seems like the local golf scene is changing, and it’s heading indoors! Yes, you heard that right! Indoor golf simulators are all the rage, and they’ve got quite the spotlight lately. One spot that’s caught the buzz is a new establishment called The Cave, located at 9250 Corkscrew Road, Suite 13, Estero. Opened just recently on February 4, this place is not just another golf venue; it’s a full-fledged entertainment hub with a bar and food options.
A Golfer’s Dream
The owners of The Cave are Karen Nicoletti, a seasoned professional golfer with the LPGA, and her husband Brad Swearingen, a former golf caddy. With their combined passion for golf and community service, they’ve created an inviting atmosphere. “We are offering free women’s golf clinics on Mondays and specials for veterans and first responders,” Nicoletti mentioned. How awesome is that? Not only are they making golf accessible, but they’re also giving back to those who serve our community.
Experience Golf Like Never Before
So, what’s the deal with the simulators? For just $50 per hour, groups of up to six can enjoy a round of golf on a virtual course that includes some of the finest like Pebble Beach—something that would normally cost nearly $800 to play in real life! The Cave is open every day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., making it a perfect spot for a casual day out with family or friends. And if you’re feeling peckish, the menu is drool-worthy with pizza, wings, and appetizers on offer—yum!
Golfing in Comfort
Nicoletti pointed out an interesting fact—“The pandemic was actually great for the game of golf.” While public courses are thriving, not everyone can afford to enjoy the sport. With countless outdoor ranges replaced by warehouses and markets, places like The Cave are filling a much-needed gap. “Coming here, you don’t have to worry about being intimidated,” Nicoletti added, emphasizing that golfers of all skill levels can come and enjoy without pressure.
Realism at Your Fingertips
Brad Swearingen, recovering from a back injury that halted his caddying career, sparked the idea for The Cave during his recuperation. “He built it with his own two hands,” Nicoletti said proudly. And that hands-on approach extends to the simulators themselves. “The experience is so accurate and realistic that you’ll soon forget you’re indoors. You’ll see—it’s a blast!” Swearingen demonstrated how hitting a ball into the simulator works, and it was hard to tell whether we were watching a real golfer on a real course or just a screen. The technology doesn’t just allow you to play; it immerses you in the game, complete with sand traps and putting greens. “It might take a hole or two to adjust, but you’ll feel like you’re right out on the course,” he said.
More Fun on the Horizon
The Cave doesn’t plan to stop at golf. Later this year, they are set to add two indoor pickleball courts to keep the fun rolling! So if you’re not quite ready to hit the golf course or want a change of pace, now you’ll have options galore!
