Clarksville is buzzing with excitement as Erica Scutt makes history by becoming the first-ever Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s golf student-athlete to earn the prestigious Atlantic Sun Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year honor. It’s a testament to her outstanding achievements both on and off the golf course that has everyone talking.
With a superb GPA of 3.94 while majoring in marketing, Scutt’s academic journey is nothing short of impressive. Set to graduate in May 2025, she has consistently maintained her commitment to excellence. Her incredible work in the classroom hasn’t gone unnoticed, as she has been named a Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar for three consecutive years (2022, 2023, 2024) and was also honored as a 2024 Collegiate Sports Communicators Academic All-District recipient. As if that wasn’t enough, she also became the first APSU women’s golfer to be part of the Academic All-ASUN Team.
On the green, Scutt showcased her talent and dedication with a scoring average of 75.61 this season. She was tied for the team lead with six rounds at par or better and successfully recorded a counting score in 25 of 28 rounds. Proving her mettle, Scutt finished as the top finisher for the Governors in four events and sported an impressive 571-241-19 head-to-head record, boasting a remarkable .700 winning percentage.
Throughout the season, she secured five top-10 finishes, three of which were in the top five, and even held a perfect record of 1-0 in match play. This recognition adds another feather to her cap, marking her third consecutive All-ASUN Honor, after being awarded First Team in 2024 and Second Team in 2023. She also bagged 2022 All-Ohio Valley Conference honors during her freshman year, further enhancing her collegiate legacy.
Erica Scutt isn’t the only one making waves at APSU; her teammate Jillian Breedlove also earned Third-Team All-ASUN honors. She had a magnificent career-best four-under 68 at Hawaii’s Rainbow Wahine Invitational, contributing to a compelling personal record of six-under 210 over three rounds.
Breedlove also achieved a pair of top-five finishes and sported an impressive 549-158-19 record against competing fields, finishing the season with a stellar .777 winning percentage—the best on the team!
