The new Habit Burger is set to enhance Jacksonville's dining landscape.
Habit Burger & Grill is set to open its second location in Jacksonville, Florida, near River City Marketplace. The new restaurant will feature a mobile pickup lane, a drive-thru, and seating for around 30 customers. As part of its expansion efforts in Florida, Habit Burger aims to enhance the local dining scene and hire around 40 employees for this new spot, expected to open in the second half of 2025.
Exciting news for food lovers in Jacksonville! Habit Burger & Grill, the cherished fast-casual eatery known for its deliciously chargrilled burgers and mouthwatering shakes, is gearing up to open its second location in the city. This new restaurant will be situated near the bustling River City Marketplace, right next to BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse at 15022 Max Leggett Parkway.
The new site is set to be a cozy 2,063-square-foot building on a 0.8-acre plot owned by BJ’s Restaurant. Plans include a dedicated mobile pickup lane for those on the go, making it easier than ever to grab a bite. Customers can enjoy their meal inside, with around 30 seats, or take advantage of the convenient drive-thru lane, which can accommodate at least 10 vehicles. Plus, ample surface parking for 27 vehicles will be available, with additional spots shared with BJ’s.
Right now, municipal utility JEA is reviewing a service availability determination request that was submitted on April 25, as they prepare for this exciting new venture. Furthermore, the St. Johns River Water Management District received a pre-application earlier this month for an environmental resource permit, indicating that everything is moving forward smoothly.
For those who don’t know, Habit Burger & Grill is part of the larger Yum! Brands Inc., and its roots trace back to sunny Irvine, California. With a rich history of over 50 years in the industry, this burger chain is celebrated for its freshly grilled offerings—including charburgers, salads, hand-spun shakes, and delightful desserts. Habit Burger is no stranger to accolades either, recently being recognized as one of Newsweek’s 2023 America’s Favorite Restaurant Chains.
At the moment, Jacksonville has one Habit Burger location under development at 13559 Beach Blvd., located at a former Bojangles that closed its doors in June 2023. This location is also moving along, having received a city permit for landscaping work earlier this month. This restaurant will span 3,875 square feet, and will also include a drive-thru option, adding to the convenience for those craving a tasty meal on the run.
The folks behind Habit Burger are planning to hire around 40 employees for this new location. This is fantastic news for the local job market as well! With a dedication to fresh ingredients and customer satisfaction, Habit Burger is excited about the opportunity to join the growing food scene in Jacksonville, a city known for its diverse culinary options.
Currently, Habit Burger has 12 locations scattered across Florida, with a handful in South Florida and one near Clearwater. There’s also a new location on the way in St. Petersburg, showing that the brand is actively expanding throughout the Sunshine State.
For Jacksonville residents, the wait won’t be too long—Habit Burger is aiming to open the new restaurant in the second half of 2025. As preparations continue, there’s a palpable buzz in the air. Foodies, keep your appetites ready—Habit Burger is soon to be a part of your dining options!
While we wait for this exciting new addition to open, it’s clear that Habit Burger is committed to offering tasty meals made with quality ingredients. With an expanding footprint in Florida, who knows what other delicious plans they might have in store?
