Sponsor Our ArticlesLinksDAO is set to invest $30 million to transform the historic Hillcrest Country Club in Kansas City into a premier golfing destination. With architect Tripp Davis overseeing the renovation, plans include building a new clubhouse, reworking the course layout, and enhancing its features to attract players of all skill levels. This revitalization is expected to be completed by Spring 2026, enhancing community involvement and attracting high-profile athletes to the club.
Golf enthusiasts, get ready for some exciting news! LinksDAO is on the verge of turning the historic Hillcrest Country Club into a stunning premier golf course with a budget of $30 million. Located in the heart of Kansas City, this club has been a cherished part of the community since it first opened its doors back in 1915, designed by the famous architect Donald Ross.
The Hillcrest Country Club is not just another golf course; it’s packed with rich history. Not only is it believed to be the second-oldest club in Kansas City, but it has also hosted notable tournaments over the decades, including the 1922 Western Amateur and three PGA Tour Kansas City Open Invitational events in the 1950s. It was, at one time, a public course, and it last operated as such in 2023. Clearly, this course has a lot more to offer than just great golfing!
The CEO Jim Daily and COO Mike Dudas set out to make golf a sport that’s welcoming for all by founding LinksDAO in 2021. They wasted no time raising over $12 million in just three weeks for their exciting initiatives. Now, they are targeting Hillcrest for their first significant project in the United States. Architect Tripp Davis, who has lent his expertise to top courses such as Oak Tree National and Augusta Country Club, will oversee the renovation.
Plans for the massive overhaul include clearing overgrown trees to open up stunning views, building a brand-new clubhouse, and reworking the course layout to boost its potential for making it onto Golf Digest’s America’s 100 Greatest Courses list. The site sprawls across an impressive 135 acres on a prime piece of land that sits high within Swope Park, promising breathtaking vistas of downtown Kansas City.
The renovation project has a target completion date set for around Spring 2026. Davis is already hard at work preparing the new layout that will modernize and enhance the golfing experience for members. Once transformed, Hillcrest could become a sparkling gem in the golf community, attracting players of all skill levels.
In this revitalized vision, LinksDAO is keen to welcome both local memberships and access for LinksDAO community members. There’s also buzz about drawing in high-profile athletes from both the NFL and MLB, which could elevate the overall experience at this iconic venue. It’s exciting to think about how a little community spirit mixed with some star power can further enrich this classic golf club!
Interestingly, while LinksDAO is making waves with Hillcrest, the Hillcrest Golf Club in Moose Jaw is also undergoing its own grand renovations, thanks to overwhelming support from its members. With a multi-phase $3.5 million Master Plan, they are looking to modernize their infrastructure and enhance the play experience, proving that golf clubs everywhere are thinking of ways to adapt and improve.
With LinksDAO poised to create something truly special at Hillcrest Country Club, it promises to be a bright future not only for the club itself but also for local golfers. Whether you’re an avid golfer or a casual participant, the transformation of this historic course into a premier golfing destination will surely capture the attention and hearts of many.
Stay tuned as the story unfolds, and keep your clubs ready—you might just find yourself teeing off at a revitalized Hillcrest in the coming years!
