Holiday Festivities Light Up Jacksonville

This weekend, Jacksonville is brimming with holiday spirit, offering an array of events that cater to various interests. From traditional performances of the beloved “Nutcracker” ballet to a lively Latin festival, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Performances of “The Nutcracker”

Families and ballet enthusiasts can choose from three different performances of “The Nutcracker” throughout the weekend. These performances capture the magic of the holiday season, featuring stunning choreography and enchanting music. The shows provide an excellent opportunity for families to come together and immerse themselves in the spirit of the season.

Tuba Christmas Concert

For music lovers, a unique event is set to take place at James Weldon Johnson Park on Noon Saturday, December 14. Over 150 tuba, euphonium, and sousaphone players will perform holiday classics during what is known as “Tuba Christmas.” This festive concert offers a communal experience where attendees can enjoy familiar tunes like “White Christmas” in a way they have never heard before.

A Latin Cultural Celebration

Also taking place this weekend is a Hispanic heritage festival in downtown Jacksonville. Originally scheduled for October, the festival was postponed due to Hurricane Milton. Scheduled for Saturday, December 14, the event will feature the talented Puerto Rican salsa star Frankie Negrón. This vibrant festival is anticipated to draw a crowd, celebrating Latin culture through music, food, and dance.

Holiday-Themed Frights

If you’re looking for something unconventional, the 13th Floor Jacksonville is hosting a holiday-themed haunted house from December 13-15. Here, patrons can enjoy light-hearted scares with a twist of Christmas cheer. Tickets are priced at $29.99, and attendees can also donate new, unopened toys to benefit Wolfson Children’s Hospital.

Football Fever with the Jaguars

Sports fans can round off their weekend with an exciting NFL matchup, as the Jacksonville Jaguars take on the New York Jets at Everbank Stadium on Sunday, December 15, starting at 1 p.m. Ticket prices range from $57-$538. The Jaguars are looking to build momentum after a victorious game. This event promises thrilling football action, perfect for those eager to support their home team.

This busy weekend in Jacksonville provides numerous activities that celebrate the festive season. Whether one chooses to enjoy a classic ballet, a unique holiday concert, a cultural festival, or an exhilarating football game, the city is alive with holiday cheer.
