Have you noticed how outdoor golf driving ranges are disappearing left and right in Southwest Florida? Well, it looks like indoor golf simulators are stepping up to fill that void, and one local establishment is making waves! Welcome to The Cave, a brand-new spot in Estero that’s turning the golfing experience on its head.
Located at 9250 Corkscrew Road, Suite 13, The Cave opened its doors on February 4, and it’s not just your typical golf hangout. It’s a unique combination of a bar, restaurant, and the latest in golf technology. The husband-and-wife duo, Karen Nicoletti, a pro golfer with the LPGA, and Brad Swearingen, a former golf caddy, have brought something special to the community.
The Cave offers three state-of-the-art golf simulators, where players can hit balls without the need for a sprawling green and fairways. At a reasonable cost of $50 an hour for simulator use, and with room for up to six players, it’s the perfect spot for a fun day out with friends or family. Plus, you can chow down on delicious pizza, wings, and other tasty appetizers while you play!
What’s even better? They’re making golf more accessible to everyone with free women’s golf clinics on Mondays and special offers for veterans, police, firefighters, emergency medical services, and educators. It’s like a mini-golf revolution, aimed at including everyone in the game we all love!
Surprisingly, the pandemic has actually been a boon for golfing! As Karen notes, “Public golf courses are hitting their all-time high.” Yet, many people still find the game a bit pricey. Just think about it: playing at the iconic Pebble Beach course can set you back nearly $800, while The Cave offers a fun, virtual alternative at a fraction of that cost.
Brad Swearingen came up with the idea for The Cave after a back injury sidelined his caddying career. During his recovery, he needed a fresh direction and decided to pursue his passion by building this unique indoor venue. “He pretty much built it with his own two hands,” Karen recounts, showing just how dedicated they are to making this place feel like a home away from home.
One of the main attractions at The Cave is the atmosphere. “Coming here, you don’t have to worry about being intimidated,” Karen explains. It’s designed to welcome everyone, whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned pro. They’ve even got great games on the simulators for kids, making it a family-friendly environment.
Wondering how realistic are these simulators? Brad demonstrates by smashing a ball onto the screen, and as it connects, the virtual ball follows a perfect trajectory—landing right on the green! Sure, it takes a little getting used to, but he promises that it feels incredibly real once you’re into it. You can even practice from sand traps and putting greens!
And the best part? There are plans in the works to add two indoor pickleball courts later this year! But for now, The Cave is drawing in golf lovers from all around, eager to learn, play, and have a great time without any pressure.
If you’re looking for a fun, accessible way to enjoy golf without dealing with the crowds or high fees, grab your friends and head over to The Cave. It’s an unparalleled golfing experience waiting just for you!
