Jacksonville Charity Golf Events Raise Over $294,500 for Local Causes

Jacksonville recently witnessed a heartwarming display of community spirit as two charity golf events brought together generous players and supporters, raising an impressive $294,500 for local causes. Golf enthusiasts in the area set aside their clubs for a good cause, showing that the game is not just about birdies and eagles, but also about making a difference.

A Friendly Competition at the Courthouse

The excitement kicked off on March 28, with a charity golf competition held right on the lawn at the Duval County Courthouse. It was a lovely day where players took part in a friendly rivalry, showcasing their skills while also giving back. A highlight of the day was 4th Circuit Judge Mark Mahon, who snagged the title of closest to the pin, proving that even judges can have fun on the green!

But that was just the beginning. The event saw Jacksonville law firm Pajcic & Pajcic stepping up in a big way, donating a remarkable $25,000 to the Jacksonville Area Legal Aid at the close of the event. This extraordinarily generous contribution is part of a larger fundraising effort. Through the charity golf competition and their annual Yard Golf event held on March 29, Pajcic & Pajcic raised a record-breaking $187,000 for the organization, aiming to support those in need of legal assistance in the area.

Introducing Kids to the Game

Sahana Chokshi organized her very own charity tournament titled “Swinging For Success.” Slated for April 6, 2025, this event will take place at Florida’s World Golf Village and aims to uplift underserved children through the Moore-Myers Children’s Fund.

The goal of this initiative is to teach life skills to children through the sport of golf. Sahana, with her passion for the game, seeks to introduce kids to golf, nurturing a love for the sport that could last a lifetime. The program caters to children as young as five, working alongside First Tee to instill the fundamental skills of the game.

Creating a Road Map to Success

The Moore-Myers Children’s Fund is committed to preparing these children for a brighter future, and they are determined to provide them with a clear path to success, including the potential for college-level play in golf. For those interested in supporting this noble cause, spots and sponsorships for the “Swinging For Success” event are still available, allowing the community to come together once again in the spirit of giving.

Rallying for a Good Cause

Trailer Bridge Inc., a key player in the Jacksonville transportation scene, held a golf tournament that made waves in the community by raising $107,500 for the Kate Amato Foundation. The second annual Rally for Kate Charity Golf Tournament took place at the beautiful Atlantic Beach Country Club, attracting 88 enthusiastic players, mainly from the transportation and logistics industry.

This tournament honors the memory of Kate Amato, who fought bravely against cancer until her passing in 2016. Her foundation works tirelessly to bring awareness and funding to pediatric cancer research, a cause that desperately needs support, as only about 4% of federal funding goes toward this vital area.

Community Spirit Shines Bright
