Jacksonville Entrepreneur Damaso Quezada Boosts Local Economy with Six Batteries Plus Locations

Jacksonville Entrepreneur Expands Battery Franchise

Damaso Quezada, a seasoned entrepreneur, has successfully expanded his business by opening six Batteries Plus locations in Jacksonville, Florida. This remarkable growth occurred within a relatively short span, beginning in 2021 when he acquired his first three stores. The latest addition is set to open in St. Johns County in 2025, highlighting Quezada’s ambition and dedication to his enterprise.

Background and Early Influences

Born in the Dominican Republic, Quezada moved to the United States at the age of 14. He was introduced to the business world by working alongside his father, who owned grocery stores in New York’s Bronx and Manhattan. This early exposure spurred his interest in entrepreneurship. After a two-decade career in the military, during which he honed essential skills like organizational management and discipline, he relocated to Florida in 2017 following his retirement.

From Military Service to Business Ownership

Initially, Quezada considered opening a Little Caesars franchise but recognized that the restaurant industry was outside his area of expertise. Instead, he began collaborating with City Facilities Management, performing technical work in various grocery stores. His responsibilities often required purchasing batteries in bulk, which led him to frequent Batteries Plus.

A Business Opportunity Arises

After observing the demand for batteries in his line of work, Quezada realized the potential for a business venture with Batteries Plus. “I saw that I was actively buying batteries for several projects,” he said. “This felt like a good business opportunity that aligned with my experience and interests.”

Franchise Expansion and Success

In 2021, Quezada officially joined the franchise and began with three stores. His success enabled him to acquire additional locations when another owner exited the business. Today, his stores are spread throughout Jacksonville, Orange Park, and Palm Coast, with future plans for the new St. Johns County location.

Adapting to Customer Needs

Quezada is keen on adapting his business to meet customers’ evolving needs. He implemented the IRP program, which allows him to offer services that include fixing Apple devices with genuine parts. This initiative is financially beneficial, potentially generating an additional $600-$700 daily from just three or four repairs.

Labor Challenges and Business Management

Despite his rapid growth, Quezada faces challenges, particularly in hiring qualified staff. “Finding the right people and building effective teams is crucial,” he explained. He believes this labor shortage is a challenge all business owners must navigate to ensure ongoing growth and profitability.

A Cycle of Growth

Quezada emphasizes the importance of stepping out of one’s comfort zone to foster business expansion. “Once you start making profits, it’s tempting to stay comfortable, but growth requires continual investment and adaptation,” he said. He describes this cycle as essential for long-term success in business.

Conclusion

With six stores already operational and plans for further expansion, Damaso Quezada stands as a testament to hard work and perseverance. His journey—from a young boy in the Dominican Republic to a flourishing business owner in Jacksonville—serves as an inspiring narrative for aspiring entrepreneurs in the community.
