The regular season is officially over, and now the stage is set for the action-packed district tournaments that promise to showcase some incredible talent and thrilling games across Northeast Florida.
Let’s kick things off by taking a look at the latest Power Poll rankings that spotlight the top teams in our area. Currently, leading the pack are the Bulldogs, strutting their stuff at the #1 spot! This fierce squad is averaging a whopping 65.2 points per game and has recently dominated their opponents, clinching victories against Nease with a score of 73-43 and Mandarin, where they soared to a spectacular 77-35 win.
Following closely are the Crusaders at #2, who seem to be on a roll, having crushed Englewood with a jaw-dropping score of 59-6! They didn’t stop there, as they also took down Viera with yet another impressive victory of 44-13. Wow, talk about dominating the court!
Rounding out the top three are the Stallions, who have been galloping their way to success, recently defeating Tocoi Creek 60-53 and Gainesville The Rock 59-27. It’s safe to say these girls know how to put on a show!
Now here’s an exciting turn of events! The Storm have just jumped into the rankings, and they’re riding high on a five-game winning streak. Unfortunately, Ridgeview, with a solid record of 18-4, has dropped out of the rankings. However, don’t lose hope just yet! Teams like Bartram Trail, Beachside, Creekside, Jackson, NFEI, and Tocoi Creek are all hovering around the bubble, eager to show what they can do in the upcoming games.
It’s not just the girls who are making headlines in Jacksonville. The boys’ team from Wellington High School is also making waves with a strong record of 19-4, securing the top seed in the Class 7A, District 8 tournament. Their upcoming semifinal matchup against Palm Beach Gardens is definitely one to watch!
As for the girls at Seminole Ridge High School, they’ve been putting together a fantastic season with an impressive 15-1 record. They are set to face Martin County in what promises to be a nail-biter district championship.
