A Life Well-Lived

Billy was born on June 4, 1942, in Minnesota. As the third oldest among his siblings, he was a vital part of a close-knit family. His educational journey took him to Cretin High School in St. Paul, where he developed a passion for sports that would follow him throughout his life.

In June 1966, he tied the knot with Jane Walker, a partnership that lasted an incredible 59 years. The couple briefly resided in Pennsylvania before making their final move to Florida in 1978, where Billy truly left his mark in the Jacksonville community.

Committed to Golf

For an astonishing 47 years, Billy worked at the Hyde Park Golf Club. He wore many hats there as both an employee and a devoted patron. To him, the golf club wasn’t just a workplace; it was a second home filled with laughter, unforgettable moments, and friendships that spanned generations. His dedication to the sport was evident in his involvement with the Hyde Park Men’s Association and the Jacksonville Area Golf Association (JAGA).

But Billy’s love for sports didn’t stop at golf. He spent many years umpiring high-school baseball and recreational softball across North Florida. His passion for sports brought communities together, and he became a beloved figure among players and fans alike.
