Jacksonville Welcomes Holiday Lights Displays for 2024

Jacksonville, Fla. — As the festive season approaches, families in Jacksonville and its surrounding areas are getting ready to experience a spectacular showcase of holiday lights. A variety of events featuring dazzling light displays are now open to the public, offering residents and visitors alike a chance to celebrate the holidays in style. From botanical gardens to whimsical neighborhood shows, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this season.

What’s On Display?

This year, the Jacksonville Arboretum & Botanical Gardens invites families to Dazzling Nights, featuring enchanting holiday exhibits. These special displays are set to light up the garden every night from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. until Sunday, Dec. 29, 2024. Tickets for this immersive experience are priced starting at $22 for adults and $19 for children. Children aged 3 and under can enter for free, making it a fantastic family outing.

In nearby St. Augustine, the 30th Annual Nights of Lights has transformed the historic district into a magical wonderland, boasting over three million lights. This acclaimed display will run from now through Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025. Visitors can expect a stunning visual treat while taking advantage of various parking options and local events during this festive period.

Where to See the Lights?

For those living in Jacksonville, the Blackhawk Bluff neighborhood is recognized as one of the finest spots to witness Christmas lights. This festive tradition has continued for over 15 years, and the lights will be shining brightly until Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025. The display is located off Girvin Road and is widely praised for its festive spirit.

Another highlight is the Deck the Chairs event, located at the Seawalk Pavilion and Latham Plaza, which will continue until Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025. This year marks the event’s 12th anniversary, featuring a light show that runs nightly from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. The event also includes local performances by student music and dance groups, adding to the holiday cheer.

Special Attractions

Jekyll Island is transforming into a winter wonderland with over one million lights and 350+ displays as part of its Holly Jolly Light Tours, available for $25. Children under 3 enter for free. This self-guided tour is an excellent way for families to explore the island during the holiday season.

For a unique experience, visit the Colors of the Wild – ZOOLights Lantern Experience at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. Running on select nights through February, this event features hundreds of lanterns and festive performances, including visits from holiday characters like Santa Claus.
