This victory not only completed a season sweep over Stetson but also secured the Dolphins a coveted spot as the #4 seed in the upcoming ASUN Championship Tournament.
With a fantastic overall record of 18-12 and an impressive 12-6 mark in conference play, the Dolphins are undoubtedly riding a wave of momentum as they prepare to faceoff against the #5 seed, Eastern Kentucky, in the first round of the tournament. This marks a significant achievement, as it is the second time under Jordan Mincy’s guidance that JU will host a playoff game, making it a thrilling time for both fans and players alike.
The Dolphins are heading into this tournament with their most conference wins since the 2010-11 season, and the excitement around the team is palpable. Jacksonville showcased their dominance throughout the game against Stetson, leading from start to finish and never trailing at any point. They even had a comfortable lead that ballooned to as much as 16 points during the second half when the score reached 48-32.
One of the standout elements of the game was the incredible teamwork on display, with the Dolphins finishing with a whopping total of 19 assists. Robert McCray V got the ball rolling from the very start, contributing a solid nine points along with eight assists and three steals. Joining him in the effort, Kendall Munson was unstoppable, leading not just in rebounds with eight, but also scoring a team-high of 17 points and delivering a stellar defensive performance with one block. With four of the Dolphins’ five starters grabbing six or more rebounds, it was clear that rebounding was a vital component in securing their win.
Other key players included Donovan Rivers, who contributed six rebounds and eight points, while Jakari Spence added his presence with seven rebounds. Off the bench, Tito Deng made his mark with six rebounds, a season-high two steals, and five points to boost the Dolphins’ performance.
