News Summary

In Jacksonville, the local community is relieved as the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has located several missing individuals, including a young man and a senior citizen. The successful search efforts have brought hope and a sense of community involvement, as families are reunited with their loved ones. Unfortunately, the search for three individuals remains suspended after a tragic capsizing incident, highlighting the need for community awareness and swift response from authorities.

Jacksonville Community Relief as Missing Individuals Are Located

In Jacksonville, locals can breathe a sigh of relief as the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) has successfully located several missing individuals, including a young man and a senior citizen. The updates from the authorities over the past few days have brought hope and a sense of community involvement.

Missing Young Man Found Safe

Joseph William Genaro, a 19-year-old, raised concerns when he went missing on Hogan Road earlier this week. He was last seen at 11:30 a.m., and anxiety gripped his family and friends until they reported him missing to the police around 2:55 p.m. on the same day. Thankfully, the JSO confirmed that Joseph was located safely on Wednesday evening. Such news has undoubtedly eased the worries of those close to him.

Search Continues for Missing Teenager

Meanwhile, the search continues for Serenity Mallett, a 14-year-old girl who was reported missing shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Friday night. Family members informed authorities that Serenity failed to return home from school, sparking concern among the community. She was last seen by friends around 4:30 p.m. near the 1800 block of Dunn Avenue. Serenity is described as being 5’2″ tall, weighing 125 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair styled in a ponytail. She was last seen wearing a grey shirt, black pants, pink socks, and pink shoes. Authorities are urging anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact the JSO’s non-emergency number at (904) 630-0500.

Alzheimer’s Patient Found Safe

In a separate but equally concerning case, a 75-year-old woman diagnosed with Alzheimer’s was reported missing on Wednesday evening. Fortunately, her family received good news when she was located safely around 11 p.m. This incident once again highlights the importance of community awareness and the swift action from local authorities when vulnerable individuals are reported missing.

Missing Local Found Safe After Days of Distress

On a different note, Chad Alen Hoy, a 35-year-old man last seen on March 4 from the 500 block of 1st Street N, was also reported missing. He was last spotted near the pier parking lot on a Thursday evening around 5:45 p.m. Chad is described as being 5’9” tall, weighing 145 pounds, and sporting tattoos on both arms. He was wearing a black hat, dark blue cargo shorts, and a black shirt when he went missing. Thankfully, the Jacksonville Beach Police Department confirmed that Chad has been found safe, bringing relief to his friends and family.

Tragic Capsizing Incident

In a more tragic turn of events, the Coast Guard has suspended the search for three individuals – an adult and two minors – who went missing after an 18-foot boat capsized in the St. Johns River. This heartbreaking incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Friday when four people were onboard, with additional potential victims believed to be trapped beneath the boat. Search efforts spanned over 17 hours, with authorities employing divers, boats, helicopters, and drones to cover more than 270 square miles. Sadly, one of those rescued from the water was found unresponsive and later confirmed deceased. The search for the other three individuals has been temporarily put on hold until new information surfaces. Investigations into the cause of the boat capsizing are ongoing.

The events of this past week in Jacksonville underline the significance of community involvement and the quick response from local law enforcement agencies. As families joyfully reunite with their loved ones, the entire community stands united in hopes of a swift and safe resolution for those still missing.
