News Summary

West Jacksonville is abuzz with development news as plans for two new hotels emerge along Chaffee Point Boulevard. The proposed Home2 Suites by Hilton and Courtyard by Marriott are set to enhance local hospitality offerings, creating opportunities for travelers. With local utility provider JEA reviewing service requests and the support of a civil engineering firm, these hotels could significantly boost the area’s economy. Both hotels aim to cater to an increasing number of visitors while offering convenient access to local amenities.

Exciting Developments in West Jacksonville: Two New Hotels on the Horizon!

West Jacksonville is buzzing with excitement as plans are rolling in for two new hotels along the bustling Chaffee Point Boulevard. Situated just south of Interstate 10, this area is set to experience a delightful transformation, bringing in fresh opportunities for travelers and locals alike.

What’s on the Table?

To be precise, the proposed sites are nestled in a prime location: south of I-10, east of Chaffee Road, and north of Crystal Springs Road. The plans feature:

  • A charming 110-room Home2 Suites by Hilton located at 501 Chaffee Point Blvd.
  • An inviting 85-room Courtyard by Marriott at 513 Chaffee Point Blvd.

Interestingly, both hotel proposals share the same property number, 501 Chaffee Point Blvd. Perhaps a better way to put it is that both hotels are neighbors, making it an exciting hub for visitors!

Getting Ready for Business

JEA, the city’s utility provider, is currently reviewing service availability requests for these new projects. On April 19, JEA issued a service availability letter for the Home2 Suites by Hilton, indicating that the wheels are in motion. Meanwhile, the site for the Courtyard by Marriott, which spans 1.87 acres, is situated just south of the Home2 Suites site, making it quite convenient to feel right at home in West Jacksonville.

Local Connections

Both hotel proposals come from William E. Tully III Inc., a civil engineering firm based in Ponte Vedra. The requests for these hotels were submitted on April 15, and while excitement is building, it’s important to note that the development plans are still under exploration, with no formal agreements in place just yet.

The property owners, Chaffee Hotel LLC from Lake City, acquired the properties back in July 2017 under the leadership of Minesh Patel. In 2019, the 501 Chaffee Point Blvd property was transferred to Oasis Jacksonville LLC, also led by Minesh Patel along with Mahendra Patel.

What’s Around?

If these hotel projects get the green light, they’ll join a growing community of accommodations on Chaffee Point Boulevard. Currently, visitors can choose from several existing options including the Best Western Plus, Fairfield Inn & Suites, Hampton Inn, and Holiday Inn Express & Suites, with a total of around 317 rooms available. Not too shabby for travelers seeking comfort and convenience!

And let’s not forget the practical side of things! Right nearby, you’ll find a Winn-Dixie grocery store, perfect for stocking up on snacks or essentials while staying in the area. Plus, with the sites being just 13 miles west of downtown Jacksonville and about 7 miles west of Interstate 295, accessing the city’s vibrant attractions would be a breeze.

The Bottom Line

The addition of these hotels can potentially boost the local economy and pave the way for even more development in this growing area. With travelers looking for quality stays and local residents appreciating the hospitality offerings, West Jacksonville is gearing up to welcome guests with open arms. The future looks bright at Chaffee Point Boulevard!
