Jacksonville, Florida is set to welcome a new medical center that aims to provide a range of health services to residents. The city issued a permit on December 11 for Oliver Sperry Renovation and Construction of Tallahassee to undertake the tenant improvements for the facility, located at 8102 Blanding Blvd., Unit 29, in the Crossroad Square shopping center. This upcoming clinic is being called the Duclay location, catering to the neighborhood in Duval County, near Clay County.
Construction Details
The total cost of the project is approximately $2.15 million, and plans indicate a build-out of 5,500 square feet, which will include six exam rooms and other necessary facilities. The architectural design for the clinic is being handled by Gensler, a well-known architectural firm.
Previous Developments
This new center follows another permit that was issued on October 1 for a different clinic located at the St. Johns Square II shopping center, at 11160 Beach Blvd., Unit 128. That project, which costs $1.95 million, will occupy a space of 5,025 square feet and will also include six exam rooms. In this case, Oliver Sperry is also the appointed contractor.
Background on Florida Blue and Sanitas
The Florida Blue health insurer announced on August 29 that it would open two of these medically focused centers in Duval County in the near future. These centers primarily serve Florida Blue customers, original Medicare patients, and self-paying patients aged 50 and older. They are designed to function as primary care providers, allowing walk-in patients access to necessary medical services, although they do not offer emergency room services.
Services Offered
The services that these clinics will provide include primary care, mental well-being support, laboratory tests, and various social support options. Patients will also have the flexibility to choose between in-person and 24/7 virtual appointments. This model is aimed at enhancing healthcare accessibility for older adults in the community.
Expansion of Services in Jacksonville
The first Jacksonville Sanitas center was opened on January 2 of this year at 9400 Atlantic Blvd., Suite 11, within the Regency Park shopping center in the Arlington area. This opening marked Florida Blue’s first venture with Sanitas and its parent company, Keralty, following their initial collaboration which began in 2015 in South Florida.
Conclusion
The introduction of these facilities in Jacksonville aims to create easily accessible healthcare options for older residents. By offering comprehensive services and extended hours of availability, Florida Blue is focused on improving the overall health and well-being of the community.
