New Restaurant Strings Sports Brewery Set to Open in Jacksonville Beach
Jacksonville Beach is buzzing with excitement as Strings Sports Brewery prepares for its grand opening at 1618 Penman Road. Owner Scott Adeeb has his sights set on a date: November 27, pending final inspections. If complications arise, the launch might be postponed until after the Thanksgiving holiday.
History and Vision
This new venture holds special meaning for Adeeb, who grew up in Jacksonville Beach. “We did it once in Springfield and revamped a great old building and created a brand for ourselves,” he stated, reflecting on the journey of his family-run business. The first Strings opened its doors in Neptune Beach in the early 1990s and has since transformed into a beloved local brand.
The site of the new Strings was previously home to Terry’s Country Store, which closed in 2022. Seizing the opportunity to revive a family-owned establishment in his hometown was a dream come true for Adeeb. He acquired the 0.61-acre property in January 2023 for $1.5 million, planning to create a lively sports bar atmosphere.
Restaurant Features
The building, constructed in 1964, encompasses 9,000 square feet and is designed to accommodate 250 customers. The space boasts two large covered patio areas and incorporates portions of the former Terry’s footprint, including a nod to the past with a signature outdoor sign.
Adeeb has invested approximately $1.5 million into renovating this property, stating, “It’s a great old building. We took it down to the four concrete walls.” Inside, patrons can look forward to more than 30 flat-screen TVs to catch the latest games, along with brewery equipment that is ready to go, although brewing will begin after the opening.
Brewery and Menu Offerings
Initially, Strings plans to offer nine in-house beers and three guest taps, with an inventory of 60 kegs transferred from the Springfield location. Adeeb acknowledges that there may be a limited selection at first as the brewery operation ramps up. “It will probably take us six months to where we have got 10 to 14 beers consistently in both places,” he explained.
The restaurant will operate as a fast-casual venue. Customers can order their drinks at the bar and select a table, while food orders are placed at the kitchen counter. The menu features popular sports bar fare, including wings, smoked brisket, burgers, and salads, ensuring a great dining experience for sports fans and families alike.
A Family Affair
The Adeeb family has a rich history in the hospitality industry, with three generations involved in restaurant ownership. Joe Jr., Scott’s father, purchased Bono’s Pit Bar-B-Q in 1979. Now, Scott’s sons, Trevor and Colby, alongside their wives, are set to make their mark at Strings, with Trevor currently managing operations at the Springfield location to maintain momentum during the busy holiday season.
Future Plans
Once operational, Strings Sports Brewery will open its doors daily from 10:30 a.m. to midnight, with an atmosphere that encapsulates its motto: Family. Beer. Sports. Whatever the opening date, the anticipation is evident as Jacksonville Beach awaits the return of a cherished local dining experience.
