Raising Cane’s Set to Open New Restaurant in Jacksonville, Expanding Fast-Casual Dining Options

Raising Cane’s to Open New Location in Jacksonville

Jacksonville, Florida is set to welcome a new fast-casual dining option as Raising Cane’s has officially been granted a construction permit for a new restaurant in the city. The permit was issued on December 3, allowing the popular fried chicken chain to build a store located at 8308 Merchant’s Way, situated within the Oakleaf Station shopping center in west Jacksonville.

Construction Details

The new Raising Cane’s restaurant will encompass 2,900 square feet and is estimated to cost just over $1 million to construct. The architectural design for the building has been handled by Zebra Architecture, while Frontier Building Corp. will take on the role of general contractor. Upon completion, the restaurant will feature 52 seats indoors and an additional 30 seats on an outdoor patio, which will sit adjacent to a drive-thru window.

Expansion in Florida

This new restaurant is part of a broader expansion strategy by Raising Cane’s in Florida, revealing the chain’s growing popularity in the state. The fried chicken chain made its mark in the Sunshine State with its debut in Miami’s South Beach area in November 2022. The launch was met with significant anticipation, drawing over 200 customers who queued in line for the opening, ultimately serving more than 38,000 customers in its first week alone.

A History of Success

Founded in 1996 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Raising Cane’s has enjoyed impressive growth, attributed largely to its signature fried chicken fingers and a simple, focused menu. As of now, there are currently 14 Raising Cane’s locations throughout Florida, with the closest to the upcoming Jacksonville site being in Gainesville.

Community Impact

The introduction of Raising Cane’s is expected to contribute positively to the local community, not just by providing a new dining option but also through job creation during and after the construction phase. Fast-casual restaurants like Raising Cane’s often thrive in urban developments, attracting families and young adults in search of quality food and quick service.

Looking Ahead

The anticipated opening of this new restaurant in Jacksonville is likely to continue the momentum for Raising Cane’s in Florida and may lead to further expansion within the state. The growing demand for their menu items reflects a robust interest in fast-casual dining experiences that combine convenience with quality, a trend increasingly favored by modern diners.

As the city prepares for the arrival of Raising Cane’s, many locals are expressing excitement for the new option, particularly fans of the chain’s beloved chicken fingers. The new restaurant is expected to become a popular spot for residents and visitors alike, contributing to Jacksonville’s vibrant culinary landscape.
