Hey Jacksonville! Get ready for a fantastic opportunity coming your way! JEA is rolling out the welcome mat for all senior citizens at their special Senior Day Resource Fair on Wednesday, March 19. This is not just any event; it’s your chance to learn all about saving money on your electric bills, and it’s happening right at the heart of the city.
Mark your calendars! The event kicks off bright and early at 9 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. Make your way to JEA Headquarters, located conveniently at 225 N. Pearl St. in Jacksonville. This is a prime spot and an ideal venue for gathering all the helpful resources seniors need to tackle those pesky utility bills.
During the fair, seniors can look forward to engaging with several local agencies that are teaming up with enthusiastic JEA Customer Care agents and ambassadors. These groups are genuinely committed to providing helpful resources and information on how to keep utility costs down. It’s going to be a one-stop shop for utility bill assistance!
It’s important to note that seniors with pre-scheduled appointments will have the privilege of meeting directly with representatives who can guide them through the process of applying for utility bill assistance. This special setup means you’ll get personalized help tailored just for you!
Seniors will not be flying solo at this event! Some of the amazing partners joining forces with JEA include the Jacksonville Transportation Authority, the ElderSource SHINE Program, and The United Way of Northeast Florida’s 211 service. Let’s also not forget about Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida and other local organizations that are eager to step in and assist.
March is truly a month dedicated to helping seniors. Several organizations such as Jewish Family & Community Services and the Emergency Home Energy Assistance Program for the Elderly have already been meeting with seniors referred to them for potential utility assistance. It’s all about lending a hand to those who need it most.
Among the esteemed partners is Catholic Charities, which administers JEA’s Neighbor to Neighbor Fund. This fund is a lifesaver for many, providing financial assistance to eligible individuals struggling to meet their utility bill payments. It’s heartwarming to see such support in our community!
Getting there is a breeze too! For event attendees, parking is validated at the nearby Duval County Courthouse on Clay Street. Plus, if you’re part of the City of Jacksonville’s Oceanway Senior Center, keep an eye out; you’re expected to arrive by bus between 10 and 10:30 a.m. It’s fantastic to see so many seniors coming together for this special event!
This Senior Day Resource Fair is part of JEA’s ongoing commitment to helping the area’s most vulnerable customers. After a necessary pause due to the pandemic, JEA is excited to resume this program in April 2024. This initiative is a heartfelt response to ensure that every senior has the resources and support they need to handle their utility bills.
So, Jacksonville seniors, get ready to save some money and connect with valuable resources. This is your time to shine, and we can’t wait to see you at the fair!
