Well, folks, if you’re in the Myakka City area, you’re in for a real treat! The much-anticipated Soleta Golf Club just opened its doors on December 10, and it’s making quite the splash in the Florida golf scene. Designed by none other than Nick Price, a legendary name in golf, this new course is sure to impress both amateurs and pros alike.
For those who may not know, Nick Price isn’t just a three-time major champion with 18 wins under his belt on the PGA Tour; he’s also an accomplished golf course designer. Although often flying under the radar among golf’s biggest stars like Trevino, Nicklaus, Norman, and Faldo, Price has carved out a place for himself around the globe, with course designs in Spain, Mexico, Africa, and multiple hot spots across the United States. But it’s his work in Florida that stands out, especially at McArthur Golf Club, a collaboration that is highly praised in elite golf circles.
Soleta Golf Club, which spans a hefty 7,400 yards, sprang to life in just 11 months. That’s right – that involves over a million cubic tons of earth being moved around to shape what was once just a flat pasture. Thanks to Price and his talented team, the course is adorned with stunning bright-white native sand that frames every hole, enhancing the overall beauty of the experience.
“It was the sand that I really liked,” Price shared in a recent chat. “We have a lot of sand, and that’s what we tried to use to enhance the views here.” Price hit the nail on the head when he described the perfect balance between sand, grass, and water throughout the course.
One of the coolest features of Soleta is its free-flowing tee setup. Some tees stretch as far as 125 yards apart, allowing the course to adapt depending on who’s playing that day. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or a newcomer, the options mean you can tackle the course in a way that suits everyone’s skill level. “We have the ability to move the tees 40 yards, 20 yards either way,” Price noted. So, the hole you played yesterday isn’t necessarily what you’ll be playing today!
Soleta isn’t just a golf course; it’s a hub for a promising community. Already, 170 members have signed on, and a dozen lots are used for potential buyers. With only 93 luxury homes set to be built, each priced at $3 million and up, it’s an upscale neighborhood that promises exclusivity. Plus, they’re keeping the natural vibe intact with most of the homes built off the golf course.
Don’t expect just the golf course, either! There’s a whole 30-acre practice facility featuring a David Leadbetter golf academy and a Toptracer range to sharpen your skills. And for those looking for a casual day out, they’ll soon introduce “The Colt,” a walking-only, nine-hole short course.
Families aren’t left out either. The clubhouse will be equipped with family-friendly amenities, including pickleball and tennis courts, a pool, and even 14 cottages for visitors and guests. So, there’s something for everyone, regardless of how you like to enjoy your golf.
So, if you’re in the Myakka City area or nearby, make sure to swing by Soleta Golf Club! It’s shaping up to be not just a golf destination but a vibrant community hub for those who love the game and enjoy the outdoors. Tee off at a trailblazing course that balances skill, beauty, and community all in one!
