In the sunny region of Sarasota, Florida, golfers have something exciting to talk about! The Soleta Golf Club, a stunning course designed by the famed Nick Price, has officially opened its doors, and it promises a golfing experience like no other. This shiny new course had a remarkable 11-month build time, and it’s time to see what all the fuss is about.
Recently, the club hosted a media event to celebrate its grand opening, complete with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that brought together some big names in the golfing world like Hall of Fame golfer Nick Price himself and world-renowned instructor David Leadbetter. In an impressive show of skill, Price even took the first tee shot, sending the ball soaring down the fairway and setting the tone for an exhilarating day.
Soleta isn’t just another golf course. It stretches over 7,415 yards with a challenging par-72 layout that promises to keep golfers on their toes. The course is designed to interact beautifully with the surrounding environment. The courses weave through a breathtaking landscape featuring wetlands and wildlife, and you won’t have to worry about any wetland areas being disturbed during the development.
According to managing partner David Turner, the project turned out to be “outstanding.” He emphasizes that, “In selecting Nick as our designer, we knew we’d get a stunning championship course enjoyable for everyone.” This emphasis on enjoyment is echoed in the course features, including a state-of-the-art 30-acre practice facility designed by Leadbetter, as well as an indoor performance center—ensuring golfers at all levels can improve their game.
When it comes to the course design, Nick Price highlights that they took care to incorporate the natural features of the land, merging the game of golf with environmental preservation. “We laid out the golf course to take advantage and incorporate those natural features into the design of holes,” Price explained. This handcrafted approach embodies Price’s vision, allowing players to appreciate the natural elements while enjoying a fantastic round of golf.
Additionally, the commitment to sound environmental practices doesn’t stop at maintaining natural beauty. Water conservation and enhancing wildlife habitats were significant considerations throughout the development process—a win-win for both golfers and nature lovers alike.
For those looking to mix things up, things will get even better! A walking-only, 9-hole short course named “The Colt” is set to open in Spring 2025. This will provide a unique opportunity for golfers to test their skills in a more relaxed setting while enjoying the enveloping beauty of the area.
So, if you’re in the Sarasota or Lakewood Ranch areas, make sure you check out the new Soleta Golf Club. Not only does it offer a championship course designed by a legend, but it also serves as a tribute to the beauty and importance of preserving natural environments. Whether you’re an experienced player or just getting started, Soleta promises to be an exciting place for everyone, a community hub where golfing is more than just a sport, it’s an experience!
